MMI always works in conjunction with other non-profit organizations that share our vision to reach the lost through practical assistance. We believe that we are a small part of God’s big plan to reach people in every land with the message of God’s love. Working together and combining resources in this effort is our greatest strength.
Please look at a few of our projects and who has joined us in our mission.
Ongoing Projects
United For Relief - Democratic Republic of Congo MMI Executive Director, Thomas Stoeckel is serving as Project Manager for a large effort in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. We have joined with other organizations with the goal of providing resources in the areas of Healthcare, Education and Agriculture. The project is about coming alongside the Congolese to promote long-term sustainability in the villages of Kafumba and Malela.
Outreach FijiEach summer a MMI medical team travels to the Fiji islands to work in remote villages. For this project we work with Global Passion Ministries to provide treatment in the deep regions of the islands where medical care is not available. The ministry outreach team provides medical care and ministers to their spiritual needs. Donated medical supplies and medicines worth over $30,000 are annually distributed to this very poor region. Providing eyeglasses to Fijians who could not otherwise afford them is one of the greatest needs that MMI meets during this outreach.
Shipping
One of the main functions of MMI is to gather surplus medical supplies and equipment locally and redistribute them in third world settings. Most often we send those supplies in 40 foot sea containers. However, we have joined with local organizations that are also taking MMI supplies on overseas mission trips. Teams have delivered MMI supplies to Swaziland and the Philippines this year. Below are reports on our other shipping projects.
Ethiopia: In the past six months, MMI has sent nearly two tons of medical supplies and equipment to Ethiopia. Through a partnership between MMI and an organization called The World Family, much of our stock has been shipped to several newly established, rural clinics.
India: We’re pleased to report that a shipment to India is scheduled to leave our Sanger warehouse on July 7! Our team has been working with a doctor in Mungeli, India since early 2007 to manage the logistics associated with shipping. Details like funding, itemized shipping documents, approval at customs, and a family crisis for our contact in India have prolonged this process. Please pray that the shipment reaches its destination, Mungeli Christian Hospital. This 40 foot container will hold over $500,000 of medical supplies and equipment that is greatly needed in Mungeli.
DR Congo: Planning is currently taking place for MMI to send a container to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. A new partnership has been formed and correspondence is taking place between MMI staff and Christian leaders in the DRC. The process of identifying needs, staging a shipment, funding the container and getting the items approved at customs is always a difficult one. Please ask God to give us favor in the DRC and to provide for the Congolese people in need.
We also ask that you would join with us in praying for our contacts in the Philippines, Rwanda, Liberia, Laos and Tanzania. It’s our prayer to send containers to these countries in the days to come.
