Rachel Fortner, RN is one of our newest members of the MMI Volunteer team that comes out regularly on Monday and Wednesday mornings.
Rachel shares, “I have worked in surgery as an RN (not all areas) for 37 years. So this volunteer job is “right up my alley” as they say. Mary Smith knew it when she told me about it. I wanted to do some sort of volunteer work after I retired, but I did not want to work in one of those stores. So this helps “exercise” 🙂 my brain and I do have some knowledge where the supplies and instruments are concerned.
I also LOVE meeting new people and ALL of the people at MMI are great! A good fit for me! I have been married for 29 years and have twin boys and one step son…all the same age….42. All are married. I have one biological grandson and two step grandchildren–boy and girl. I was born in Minnesota, raised in Anaheim, and moved to Fresno in 1975. I am active in my church and do a little volunteer work there also. I love to bake…that’s my REAL hobby. My “Claim to Fame” is that I marched in the very first SUPER BOWL half time show with the ANAHEIM DRILL TEAM in 1967.”
Thanks for sharing that Rachel…as it is SUPER BOWL SUNDAY, February 5th…
50 years later!!!
Rachel always wears a smile at MMI. She is a joy to have around!!!
Thank you Rachel for sharing your time and talent with those of us at MMI.
